Hysen has Hamren doubt

Former Sweden international Glenn Hysen has slammed coach Erik Hamren's football philosophy ahead of Friday's Euro 2012 clash with England.

Having been beaten by Ukraine in their tournament opener, the Scandinavians will be eliminated if they lose to Roy Hodgson's side in the Group D fixture in Kiev.

Hysen, whose son Tobias is in the Swedish squad, is demanding that Hamren make changes for the crunch clash, believing the coach got things badly wrong in terms of his team selection for the game against the co-hosts.

"There were four or five players who didn't do their jobs against Ukraine," the former Liverpool defender told Fotbollskanalen.se.

"You need players like Jonas Olsson and Pontus Wernbloom in there. I don't know what Erik Hamren's philosophy is but I don't seem to share it."

Hysen also insinuated that Hamren was to blame for the lack of organisation and poor defensive play which allowed Andriy Shevchenko to score two headed goals for Ukraine.

"I don't know exactly what system Sweden apply at free-kicks and corners but when you have a guy who is bigger and quicker than you, then you have got to dig in to him, push him away," the 52-year-old Gothenburg native said.

"You can't lose your marker like they did against Shevchenko. You don't necessarily have to win the duel against the striker but you have got to take him out."
