The Belgian league has ended, but no champion has been crowned. RSC Anderlecht and Standard de Liege will need an extra play-off to decide which team takes the trophy this year.
Anderlecht won 0-2 at KRC Genk thanks to goals from Mbark Boussoufa (41st) and Marcin Wasilewski (59th). Standard meanwhile, earned a 0-1 win at Genk thanks to a goal from Axel Witzel just before the break.
The final phase offered extra excitement though as Genk were handed a penalty. Had Costa Rican Bryan Ruiz -who scored all other penalties this season- converted this one, he would have handed the championship to Anderlecht.
However, keeper Sinan Bolat saved the effort and became the hero of the night.
As the Belgian league doesn't decide championships based on goal record, in which case Anderlecht would have won it, the two rivals will now have to face off in extra matches.
