VIENNA (AFP) - All 23 members of Turkey's Euro 2008 squad are to receive 450,000 euros each, dwarfing the amount which players from finalists Germany and Spain will be paid in bonuses.
Turkish Football Federation president Hasan Dogan announced the sums just two days after they were beaten 3-2 by Germany in the semi-finals - the first time they had reached the last four at the European footballing showpiece. The German players have been promised 250,000 euros each should they win the trophy on Sunday, whilst the Spanish will get 214,000 euros. Indeed, all the players who made the enlarged squad before it had to be reduced to 23 will also receive 450,000 euros. The other beaten semi-finalists Russia - who lost 3-0 to Spain in their first semi-final appearance since the fall of communism - will receive 120,000 euros each from their federation. The players from quarter-finalists Croatia will also be paid bigger bonuses than the finalists, all 23 players receiving 300,000 euros. None of the players from first round losers Romania, France or 2004 champions Greece were paid any sort of bonus - each Greek player in 2004 were handed 750,000 euros as a bonus. |

Samson Totti, what about Italy? It would seem that you like both my country and Totti, but Totti is a loser and he's not in the money as the Turkish [layers are..ajax72 June 28th, 2008 05:34
It's normal as the bigest bonuses come from the countries with the highest living standard in Europe.dudishmon June 28th, 2008 07:28
the countries getting bonuses in europe arent the richest, only germany.......because the richest countries in europe are France, U.K., and GermanyTontodonati June 28th, 2008 18:06
Dudishmon, did you say that the richest country in Europe are France, England and Germany. Do you remember the story of the planet Pluto (Pluton). Now it's not a planet anymore. Is Europe a continent or just the Westermost peninsula of Asia? If so, you must include Japan and the Arab states in your list.
