LONDON (AFP) - Veteran striker Andy Cole on Monday completed his move to Championship side Nottingham Forest following his release by Sunderland.

The 36-year-old signed a 12-month contract and is looking forward to playing for his hometown club.

"One of my mates asked me whether I would join Forest if they got promoted to the Championship. I told him I would do my best and here I am," Cole told the club's website.

"It's a dream come true for me. I always said that one day I would play for Forest - I didn't think it would take this long but I'm delighted it's actually happened.

"It's special for me because my grandfather, who is no longer with us, was a big Forest fan and always said he wanted me to play for the club. Hopefully he's up there now looking down on me.

"It's not about money. I had far more lucrative offers elsewhere but wanted to join Forest and make myself and a lot of other people happy."

Andy Cole was a great player in his time and I believe even now, playing in a lower division, he can provide Nottingham with some decent firepower next season.

Alex Eppel, please tell me how could your greatest moment in soccer be the 1930 World Cup, third place finish by our United States if you're only 15 years old? Have you reincarnated lately? Your last name sounds German. Do you come from the Pennsylvania Dutch area? That's where I live!

Tontodonati, a fellow American?

Tontodonati July 8th, 2008 22:32

Chakal, yes, a fellow American and very proud of it! I was born and raised in Italy. I lived in Canada 36 years and for the last 9 years I've been living in Pennsylvania. When I was in Italy, I was told that Italy was the best country in the world. While in Canada, I was also told that Canada was the best country in the world. Now that I live in USA, I'm being told that USA is the best country in the world. Which one is the best country in the world? Simple! Where your home is!
