"Spain can win the World Cup:" Aragones

MADRID (SW) - In an interview with Spanish sports paper Marca, Luis Aragones spoke about the mental change his selection underwent during their successful Euro 2008 tournament.
The 69 year old manager, for whom the Euro 2008 final was his last match with the Spanish national team, explained that the quarter final match with Italy made the difference. "Beating Italy changed the team's psychology. Iker [Casillas] said that he was tired of not surviving the quarter finals. At the World Cup in Germany everybody - including myself - had less experience. France scored a goal against us, which surely they wouldn't have done now." Aragones went on to compare the Spanish team with the Brazilian World Cup winning squad of 1970. "They seemed a bit slow, but they came together very well and couldn't be endangered." Although Aragones himself won't be there, he does feel that this team has good chances of winning the 2010 World Cup. "We are a team with an average age of 24 years and I think it can be done." |

& we dont forget germany , remember that their stars lick podolski , schwein , frings , lahm , gomez & all teams are young so they can do it , even ballack i think he will play the next world cup who know maybe the next euro again............

with all due respect, i laugh!!germany has nothing to offer, mediocre performance against mediocre team in th euro, argentina will blast them brazil will crush them and finally spain will stick the dagger. GONE! plus the arrogant ballack has nothing left.
Man i'm happy they were embarrased in the euro.

Spain does have chance but not because all the best countries are out, but because they now have a good team. And Chakal is right, motivation means alot in sports. And I dont think that a team that wins the Euro cup is a normal team. Many of the best soccer teams in the world are in Europe so it would be quite hard to win the Euro cup by chance. Even Germans, German players, say that Spain deserved to win. And Chakal even if France, Germany, and Italy were out, in addition to Argentina, Spain should worry about Brazil.Giorgio July 4th, 2008 14:35
The old man Aragones is delusional !!! Just because he won Euro 2008 now he thinks he's good and that Spain is a world-beating side !! We'll see in 2010 !!!!!
