PRAGUE (AFP) - Sparta Prague midfielder Pavel Horvath has been banned for three games for kicking an opponent in a derby against city rivals Slavia Prague, the Czech and Moravian football federation confirmed Thursday.
Horvath was red carded in Monday's match after he lashed out following a first half tussle with an opponent. Sparta went on to lose the home tie 2-0.
Thursday's ban follows a club decision to fine Horvath 300,000 koruna (10,900 euros, 15,450 dollars) and replace him as captain.
Disciplinery commission chairman Alexander Karolyi told the internet news server, iDnes, that Horvath had not been sent off ahead of Monday's incident and "...he is not a player who often kicks others."
Horvath was fined 200,000 koruna by the disciplinary commission in September for making a fascist-style salute to fans.
