LIVORNO, Oct 30 (Sw) - Livorno chairman Aldo Spinelli has told Italy's Sky Sports that he hopes his club will be out of the UEFA Cup quickly.
He claims the tournament detracts the attention the club needs to give to a 'mediocre' Serie A finish.
"We don't have the strength to play in both the UEFA Cup and Serie A," Spinelli said.
"I hope will be out of Europe soon. We are having a mediocre season and Serie A is our priority," he added.
He reacted primarily to his coach Daniele Arrigoni's decision to rest players in the Serie A for the match against Partizan Belgrado this week. Livorno lost their first group A match 2-3 to Rangers.
Arrigoni was far from happy with the statement. "I pick the team," he said in a reaction.
