LEVERKUSEN/LONDON, Dec 14 (SW) - Bayer Leverkusen left it late to move forward in the UEFA Cup after defeating Besiktas in Group B on Thursday while Tottenham Hotspur sealed top spot in the group over Dinamo Bucuresti.

Bayer Leverkusen - Besiktas 2-1
The Germans needed victory only to move forward to the next round at the expense of Besiktas, and after 78 scoreless minutes it appeared as if the Turks would hold out to slide into the Round of 32.

But veteran German midfielder Bernd Schneider managed to fire one past Vedran Runje after the Croatian goalkeeper saved a penalty by Marko Babic.

Sergej Barbarez then sealed the win with a goal three minutes from time before Ricardinho got a penalty in injury time after Ali Tandogan was brought down by Tranquillo Barnetta.

Tottenham Hotspur - Dinamo Bucuresti 3-1
With both sides qualified, all that was left to play for at White Hart Lane was first place in the group, and Spurs immediately took it to their Romanian visitors when Dinamo goalkeeper Uladzimir Hayeu threw straight at Dimitar Berbatov who slotted home on 16 minutes.

Jermain Defoe then latched onto a long pass by Paul Robinson in the 39th minute before sending a shot flying past Hayeu, and the England striker made it 3-0 five minutes into the second half after a well-worked counter sparked by Didier Zokora.

Philippe Mendy added a consolation goal late on for Dinamo.
