ESPOO, Apr 10 (SW) – In the football arena in Laaksolahti the local team FC Espoo met TiPS Vantaa in the opening game of the Finnish Women Champion Division on Saturday. TiPS was the obvious favourite of these two teams because of many reinforcements and more experience of previous years.
FC Espoo has experienced great changes in the player selection, which resulted in 23 new players in the team this year. However FC Espoo began playing very outstanding and led the game after three minutes by 1-0 after a corner goal of Johanna Jaakola. Some minutes later Tiia Kuokka scored the 1-1 voor TiPS, to end it 1-2 before half time throught a goal of Linda Sallstrom. The guests controlled the second halftime and they scored three more times. Katja Kamola, Krista Dahlberg and Heini Metsola made it 1-5 in a bad attended match.
Still FC Espoo was satisfied, it will be a long lasting season with their new young team. FC Espoo last year number two and TiPS last year number eight have already changed the balance in the table.
FC Espoo – TiPS 1-5 (1-2)
3. Johanna Jaakola 1-0, 8. Tiia Kuokka 1-1, 28. Linda Sallstrom 1-2, 57. Katja Karnola 1-3, 66. Krista Dahlberg 1-4, 75. Heini Metsola 1-5
