KRISTIANSAND, Sep 14 (SW) - Ajax, AZ Alkmaar and SC Heerenveen all won their UEFA Cup first round matches on Thursday, while Feyenoord were held to a draw and Groningen lost to Partizan.

Start - Ajax 2-5
Ajax Amsterdam initially struggled at Start in Norway. Goals from Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Marcus Rosenberg were cancelled out by Marius Johnsen and Geir Ludvig Fevang respectively.

But the Dutch restored their lead once again through Wesley Sneijder in the 63rd minute and goals from Roger in the 67th minute and Huntelaar in the 87th eventually gave the visitors a comfortable win.

Partizan - Groningen 4-2
Less than three minutes had been played when Nebojsa Marinkovic converted a penalty for Partizan, and Bojan Zajic added a second in the 16th minute.

When Marinkovic scored another in the 44th minute, the match appeared to have been decided. Mark Jan Fledderus got one back in the 58th minute but Zajic restored the gap in the 90th.

Luis Suarez' goal for 4-2 in added time might given Groningen some hope for the second leg.

AZ Alkmaar - Kayserispor 3-2
In their first European match at their new stadium, AZ defeated Kayserispor 3-2 with Danny Koevermans opening the score from the penalty spot in the seventh minute.

Bulent BOlukbasi levelled in the 25th minute, but Rogier Molhoek and Shota Arveladze took AZ took safety with goals in the 33rd and 63rd minutes. Ragip Basdag got one back for the Turkish guests in the 67th minute.

Lokomotiv Sofia - Feyenoord 2-2
Lokomotiv Sofia initially stunned their visitors with goals from Tzvetan Genkov and Marco Dafchev in the 4th and 27th minutes respectively.

However, a penalty from Theo Lucius gave Feyenoord some new strength just before half time, and Serginho Greene levelled the score on the hour mark.

Setubal - SC Heerenveen 0-3
Of all Dutch teams, SC Heerenveen were possibly the most convincing with a 0-3 win at Vitoria Setubal in Portugal.

The first two goals of the match came from Afonso Alves, who scored in the 59th minute and again in the 65th. Lasse Nilsson added a third in stoppage time.
